My stance on the whole situation is still, how you say, "laissez-faire" I guess.
I really don't blame anyone for the actions they took that day.

It was clear that Remmy wasn't there for some of his neighbors when they were having a full blown meltdown.
It makes sense that he would recieve no support back from them when he has one of his own.

On the other hand, Remmy absolutely needs reassurance that he won't be ripped to shreds just for existing if he's to be able to make any forward progress whatsoever,
specifically towards making peace with his neighbors and apologizing for all the dumb mistakes he's made.

Considering how hurt everyone was/is, I think they're all pretty lucky that nobody's looking to fight.
Because of that alone, I still have faith that time will be enough to heal everyone's wounds and they'll all eventually hug it out like one big ol' happy family.

This isn't about him having negative feelings or not having negative feelings, it's about him having empathy or not having empathy.
Anneke was falling to pieces in front of him and he didn't even care to say a single comforting word.

You can argue he was too shellshocked to think of anyone but himself (even though that doesn't explain him only thinking of himself at basically all other times, too), but "he made a mistake but it's understandable because he was in shock" is not the same as "he did everything she could have possibly asked for".

If you want to say Remmy has a justification for botching the date, that's one thing. People make mistakes, they do things wrong sometimes, they don't stop and think about how their words hurt others and maybe it's because they have a lot on their own plates. But people are arguing he didn't fuck up at all, and he totally did.
